With a phone on their forehead, parents become storybook characters!

Humaug is a wearable that lets parents wear a smartphone on their forehead as they read stories aloud. On screen, the eyes of fairy-tale characters—from the wolf and Snow White to the Ugly Duckling—come to life. As parents read the script, a tap on the screen changes the scene and the character’s expression.

The character looks at the child, mirrors their expressions, and reacts to cards they hold up. But Mother Duck’s words come from a parent’s real face, not a screen. The technology amplifies the parent’s storytelling rather than replacing them. That’s what the name stands for: human augmentation.

Humaug comes with three fairy tales: Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and The Ugly Duckling. Parents can read aloud or play professional narration, making storytime a chance to practice English, too.

When the story ends, the play continues—with “Hand Theater,” where children use both hands to move the character’s eyebrows and eyelids, and “Draw a Character,” where faces drawn on paper become characters in the story.

No servers or accounts needed. Just a phone and a few sheets of paper to get started.
